New & Returning Coach Information 2019-2020 Season

Austin Youth Hockey Coaches –

Reminder, Check your status on USA Hockey on CEP list and see where you are at for this upcoming year.  https://www.usahockey.com/cep

If you’re interested in coaching this season, here’s a check list of requirements you will need to complete. 

1. Register with USA Hockey

2. CEP Clinics

Dates, times and locations for over 40 CEP clinics are now available on the USA Hockey website, with more to be added soon. Clinics will be held through December at locations around Minnesota.  Remember, coaches must attend one clinic each year until they at least reach a Level 3 certification by USA Hockey, and they must attend a clinic prior to December 31st. 3. Age-Specific Online Modules

USA Hockey’s age-specific coaching modules provide coaches with everything they need to know for their team’s age group.  The modules for the 2018-19 season are available now.  Coaches must complete the appropriate module(s) for their age level(s) prior to taking the ice.  Once completed, the age modules do not expire.

4. Screening and SafeSport

Coaches are required to complete the online Minnesota Hockey background screening and SafeSport Training every two seasons.  Both the screening and SafeSport training must be completed prior to stepping on the ice with your team.

5. Concussion Training

All coaches are required to receive training regarding concussions at least once every two seasons.  Each coach shall complete and provide a coach concussion acknowledgement form to the association prior to participating in any team activities. Training can be completed through USA Hockey’s online age modules, the Center for Disease Controlthe National Federation of State High School Associationsor training provided through other youth sport program.

Coaches information

 Coach TrainingCoaches have the primary function of teaching hockey skills.  They are expected to provide leadership and set a good example to their team members.  All AYH coaches must be certified per USA Hockey guidelines.  In addition, coaches are expected to abide by the AYH curriculum and attend coaching clinics and meetings throughout the year. Those with previous hockey experience who are interested in assisting as a coach, please contact Chris Tok, coaching coordinator.

 
Coach  & Manager Screen/Consent Form & Certificate: In accordance with Minnesota Hockey, all Coaches and Team Managers must fill out the Confidential Screening & Consent Form before being allowed on the ice. Please fill out the form completely including SSN and submit it to Chris Tok. For those already certified- coaches please review your card for the expiration date!
