Now that our teams have had a chance to get back on the ice, we wanted to send a reminder regarding spectators. For traveling teams and mite games that are at Packer, we need to follow the rule of one spectator per on-ice player and for traveling teams and mite games that are at Riverside, we need to follow the rule of two spectators per on-ice player.
We understand that this is not ideal but these are the guidelines that were put in place by the City of Austin, and must be followed so that we can keep the kids on the ice. We received the question of, “Who is going to enforce this?” and it is our hope that it won’t have to be enforced. We all have an obligation to follow and reinforce the rules, lead by example. Please encourage compliance within our rinks and while traveling. If these are not followed, we risk having no spectators at all.
During any other season the support and attendance at home games from other teams, family and community members are highly encouraged and we like to see the stands full but unfortunately with Covid restrictions, we need to be diligent on following guidelines and rules.
Please reach out to a board member if you have any questions or direct any covid related questions to ayhcovid@gmail.
We have received a lot of questions from parents wanting to modify a mask to attach to the helmet. At this time, you cannot modify a mask and attach it to the helmet. The only "attach to helmet" mask approved is the CCM Game on Mask. See guidance below. Please remember that these rules will need to be enforced by coaches, and refs - please abide by the rules.
Quick update for you on two things:
1: Masks for Players 5 Years old and Under: We were waiting for official confirmation from the MDH that we were interpreting the order correctly on masks for 5 and under. We did get word, Players 5 and Under are not required to wear a mask while on the ice. Here's the note I got from MDH yesterday: According the mask executive order, kids 5 and under are not required to wear masks (kids 2-5 can wear masks, but they’re not required)
2: Bauer Splash Guard update: We continue to meet with the State and MDH on getting Bauer Splash Guards approved as a face covering. We are inching closer, but nothing official to announce yet. If we do get word that these do in fact get approved as a face covering, I'll let you all know asap. (Important note/reminder on these is that for us as a governing body to approve a face covering it has to be approved by HECC as well as the State. So far HECC has only approved CCM Game On and Bauer Splash Guard.)

SCRIP is a great way to earn money throughout the year towards the cost of hockey. SCRIP is a program that allows you to buy gift cards to hundreds of locations such as Old Navy, Subway, Buffalo Wild Wings, Target, Walmart, Delta Airlines, and Home Depot to name a few.
We had several families who paid less than $50 for hockey each season. There is so much opportunity with this program.
